I'd say it should only apply if both the date and time fields are zero, but I can see that some programs may have simplified the check. I don't recall an official definition. So don't use your Apple II on 1st January 2000 (assuming you are conscious). :-) Incidentally, ProDOS-8 technical note 28 defines year 0 as 2000 (the valid range is 40-99 for 1940-1999, then 0-39 for 2000-2039). -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz Snail mail: P.O.
