Nifty List doesn't have a Close command (someone could easily write one).

Here's how I close a file manually if I don't already know the reference
number:

In Nifty List, type \files and note the reference number in the
  list of open files.

In Exerciser CDA, do command $14 (Close) and type in the
  reference number.
