Power Supplies

From: Rubywand
July 2004

Instead of looking for an exact replacement, one option is to order a good surplus
power supply and fit it into your Apple II or IIgs.

See MPJA power supplies at http://www.mpja.com. (Check the listings of
4, 3, and 2 output supplies. Some supplies are listed in the wrong group.)

The supplies listed here have +5V, +12V, and -12V outputs. (Except for PC power
supplies, four-output models with a -5V output seem to be rare now.)  You can add a
simple -5V regulator circuit to the -12V output to obtain -5V.

                   +5V    +12V   -12V   -5V    L    x  W    x  H

15182 PS  $13.00   6.0A   2.5A   0.4A   add    5"   x  3"   x 1-3/8"

15314 PS  $10.00   6.0A   1.2A   1.2A   add    5"   x  3"   x 1-3/4"

Another option is to get one of Steve Buggies's external power supplies. These are
surplus PC supplies with a cable that plugs into the IIgs motherboard:

Stephen Buggie (505-863-2390; buggie@unm.edu) sells the famous Buggie Power
Supplies, Buggie Drives, and does disk drive conversions.

VintageWare PS/2 Mouse Adapter for Apple

From: Roger Johnstone <rojaws@orcon.net.nz>
July 2003

Those of you who were at KansasFest last week may have seen Jay Edwards
demonstrating my PS/2 mouse adapter. It's a small adapter which lets a
PS/2 mouse (as used with IBM PC-compatibles) plug into an Apple mouse
port. It works with the mouse port on the AppleMouse card and the built-
in mouse port of the Apple IIc, IIc+ and Laser 128. It should also work
with the older Macintosh computers (128K, 512K, Plus), but I don't have
one to test it on.

The adapter has a pair of microcontrollers inside which translate the PS/2
protocol into the Apple mouse format. No software changes or drivers are
needed on the Apple side.

With this adapter you can now use modern mice, including optical or
cordless PS/2 models, on an Apple II.

I've set up a web site for selling the adapter via PayPal at ...
http://vintageware.orcon.net.nz/

You can also find pictures and more information there.

The price is US$22.00 each, plus US$5.00 per order for airmail delivery anywhere
in the world. If you're in New Zealand you can also pay in NZ dollars, see the web
site for instructions.

If anyone has any questions just ask here and I'll be happy to answer them.

Eamon CD Ships

From: Tom Zuchowski
Eamon Adventurer's Guild
Fall 2000

Eamon is the classic Text adventuring series begun in the early 1980's when
Dan Brown invented the gaming system. Since then, numerous authors have
created well over 200 adventures with settings and scenarios ranging from D&D
through science fiction.

This CD offers 242 public-domain Eamon adventures, including native Apple II
Eamons, DSK Eamons, three emulators, and MS-DOS Eamons. Plus, you get
16 years of Eamon Adventurer's Guild Journal back issues (with a FULL set of
Eamon reviews, indexes, lists, walk-throughs, designer tips, and lots more).
And, the CD has some really nice maps for some Eamons plus other
miscellaneous goodies.

The $3.00 price includes shipping in the USA and Canada. If you live in some other
country, please email me for price at tzuchow@attglobal.net.

Note: The standard version of the CD will not include Eamons #32 and #196
because of their wretched low quality and pornographic content. If you want
a full CD that includes those two Eamons, you must specifically request them
and also state that you are at least 18 years old.

To order, make out your check to Tom Zuchowski and send to ...

Classic Computer Collection

From: gm (groupmanager@lineone.net)
May 2001

I have a substantial collection of 'antique' computers, mostly 'first editions' of systems
such as Apple, IBM, Sirius, Apricot, Macintosh, Epson, etc.  These are not old and used,
they are in pristine condition in their original boxes with manuals, software & literature. In
particular I have Apple //e, //c, software, collectables, etc.

Anyone interested please email for full details at groupmanager@lineone.net.
