Noise Tracker GSª v2.0 - Introduction, Release and Tutorial Notes Revised: May, 1999 I know, I'm a long 'READ ME FIRST' file. But, I've got some very informative and helpful program details, tips and hints. So, take your sweet time and read me carefully. You'll be glad you did, when you use this program for the first time ! GS MOD Players are great and so are our MODfile converters. We've got three players and three converters now, with more on the way. But, what we really need is a GS/OS desktop music program to; edit, enhance, modify, convert, score, integrate or create from scratch and then save Imported MODS. It should support, edit and save MODfiles with all their special effects, in their own standard structure and original file format, allowing export, to all the other computers that can play them. It should also have the abilities to allow direct and indirect conversion or import, integration and use of our GS' current, popular music file formats and MIDI music scores. It needs to be 'USER FRIENDLY' with a music editor for people, who are not able to read standard music scores. It could be designed like SoundSmith GS, having a vertical and horizontal scroll (mouse drivenÐspreadsheet) music editor with the same major editing special effects, only more simplified, stable, detailed and refined. Designing the program and its music editor, to allow disabled, handicap or impaired users, easy access, use and program navigation, needs to be included. It could present single position movements, for more accurate auditing of the spreadsheet music score. A Search/Find/Replace feature (like a word processor), for; notes, samples and effects, with their parameters, would certainly give it some powerful and unique customized score abilities. This would allow complete conversions of any music score event, octave, note, sample, effect and their parameter values. It should certainly have the ability to import SoundSmith GS (all versions) song files, with their samples or wavebanks. Including support of modified versions, that others have designed. It would also be great, if it could support RAM-based sound bank samples, of any size (limited only by the RAM memory your GS has available) and be able to have sample support for up to 31, to be used in conjunction with the 64k Ensoniq RAM sample/sound bank. This would allow for a total of 62 samples, in theory. It must also have selectable sizes, for the track buffer and sample swaps. The support of 5 full octaves, would really be nice too. Manual edit inputs for up to 7 octaves, i.e. notes A1 thru A7 would be even better, with future expansion abilities for up to 10 octaves. Support of the MODfiles best and major special effects for starters, to use with other music file type imports, like SoundSmith GS and the original NTGS music modules, music and wavebank files, with a program Parameter (PRESET) file save option, to allocate RAM based (sound bank) memory and set the percent of sound volume desired, would be very useful options. You could even have options to rename the samples, sounds, instruments, delete, replace or add to them, from within the program. It must also support the options to load/replace/add/save, for the maximum sample size (128kÐapprox.) that a MODfile has, within the RAM based sound bank. That would really make such a GS/OS desktop music program a fantastic, versatile and amazing addition to the GS. Inclusions of future (high-end) advanced digital FM audio and sound design features like; human <-> computer random/despotic sample transmutations, support for import synthsounds, wavetable synthesis interpolation and waveform transformation, with a special effect command to let any sample/sound start, stop and/or even permit retrig/loop at any position of that sample, with dual channel and/or track position assignment and individualized sample, sound, instrument insert or replacements anywhere (within two sound RAM banks), would really give the program some powerful score design options indeed. Additional score design support for spacial sound scapes, with 3D special effects, such as; dual track/sample delay for flang effects, with volume fade-in/fade-out, for such aural illusions as closeness or distance, height, channel arcing, vertical and/or horizontal localization points, two sample and up stereo (dual channel) heterodyning, the ability for inclusion of binaural and bineural effects, sample position delay and overlay sound rendering, with from 8 up to 11 tracks combined with both RAM sound banks, or up to 15 tracks with the GS' single Ensoniq RAM sound bank, would be all I could wish for. Having all these abilities available, for total editing and composite integration of all the SoundSmith GS formats, original Noise Tracker GSª music and module file formats, with a new NTGS module type 2, to save, retain and allow the MODfiles major special effects to be audio active, both within the new NTGS module type 2 and the program players, then converting any of them to a standard Protracker MODfile format, with conversion, load-save, import-export options, would certainly cover all I could ask for and would be a dream program for me to have, enjoy and use to its fullest potentials. MIDI music scores and files, could also be indirectly available, via the SoundSmith GS formats import support, eliminating the need for direct MIDI input and direct program MIDI support. After all, you can import and convert a standard MIDI file, via the proper MIDI I/O devices, with drivers and configurations, to the SoundSmith GS program. Then you can save them to the SoundSmith GS music/song file format with your own customized sounds, samples, instruments as a GS wavebank file. But, could such a unique, new and useful program be designed, developed and made available to GS users, for FREE? Yes, certainly it could. But, it would take a lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of patients and programming talent, with a lot of love and devotion, for the GS and its music users, to be able do it. I've been wishing for such a program for this computer, from 1986, when I bought my first GS. If I ever had such a program, I'd certainly want to share it with ever GS user. Well, we did it and here it is, at last ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Presenting: A Swanson/Turley Production Noise Tracker GS v2.0 is a Freeware, programmed by Dave Swanson and designed by Charles Turley. It's copyright © 1994 by Dave Swanson, One World Software Wizards (1WSW) and OmniSoft Research LAB (OSRL) and all rights are reserved. Noise Tracker GS v2.0 is dedicated to Olivier (DELTA) Goguel, the original program author, my friend and cofounder of 1WSW. It's presented to the GS music world and to the memory of the FTA, with their original spirit and philosophy: 'Live Free or Die'. As a FREEWARE, It's released for all GS users to have and enjoy FREELY. Please copy it and give it to everybody that might be able to use it. No portion or part of Noise Tracker GS v2.0, may be used for the commercial sales or development of any other computer programs, bundled for use with any commercial programs or distributed for profit, other than the cost of on-line download fees from any on-line service, Internet server or BBS, without the written consent of 1WSW and OSRL. Noise Tracker GS v2.0 is a copyrighted FREEWARE. It's not a shareware and it's not public domain. It's released to be distributed for FREE, not to be sold or in any manner distributed for software sales or profit, other than the cost of on-line download fees from any on-line service, Internet server or BBS, without the written consent of 1WSW and OSRL. We ask that all user groups, make it available to members and friends for FREE. No shareware, public domain, disk clubs or disk sale services may distribute it for profit, without the written consent of 1WSW and OSRL. The 'NTGS Theme Song'ÐTRUTH, is copyrighted by Noah Mittman and was digitally remixed, designed, sound scape enhanced and remastered, with all of the NTGS' audio active special effects by OSRL. Please note: This is the programs 'Theme Song' and you must load it, to play it. It's in the new NTGS (type 2) Music Module file format. It can only be loaded and played, presenting its special audio active effects, via the NTGS v2.0 program. There's no automatic 'INTRO MUSIC' play function, with this new release of NTGS v2.0 and there's no 'INTRO PICTURE' display option or support implemented. There are no 'Easter Eggs' within the program either. What you see, is what you get. There's no implementation for the direct support of MIDI, with this release. You can use; synthLAB, Music Composer, SoundSmith GS, SuperSoundPROª or any other MIDI program you have for the GS, for your MIDI compositions. With the proper MIDI converters, programs, utilities, hardware and drivers, some skill, effort and patients, you can port your MIDI music score over and into either; SoundSmith GS or SuperSoundPRO, save it as an SS or SSP music score and GS wavebank file set of your own specification and design, then import it into NTGSª v2.0, for additional enhancement, modification and/or conversion. About the NTGS music, Tool 220, Linkable Player, their associate codes and files You can use the music you create with NTGS, the original NTGS linkable player and the user Tool 220, which were furnished with the release of the (P8) NTGS v1.0, for the music in any programs, FREELY and without any restrictions. The original user tool 220 and the original linkable player, presented with NTGS v1.0, won't be supported or updated by 1WSW or OSRL. If any individual programmers or developers wish to do so, that is entirely up to you. As far as our 1WSW team is concerned the only function for either, is for use with individual programmers, for inclusion of the original NTGS music modules (type 1), within their own program or demo. This program doesn't require or use tool 220. With it's release, we see no reason to continue with the development or any updates for the user tool 220. With respect to NTGS v2.0, the user tool 220 is obsolete. Use tool 220 and the original linkable player with their source codes and associate files, FREELY and upgrade/improve them as you desire, for your own needs, if you wish. They are public domain. This rewrite and new release of Noise Tracker GS v2.0 as a Freeware GS/OS desktop application program, has been a time consuming, major project. It's taken over 800 hours of Dave Swanson's time, from December of 1993 to date, programming it and designing it to my program design specifications. During the 11 months of developing and beta testing NTGS v2.0, we've encountered many problems, bugs, frustrations and anomalies. We've done our best to solve and correct these. There are many known bugs and anomalies, that NTGS v2.0 has, which we still have to work out. As best our time allows, we'll make sure to get all the bugs possible, out of this puppy, until it's as frisky, full of snappy and sonic magic, as it can be. Try to think of this major rewrite and new transformed release, as an 'Audio Diamond in the RUFF', that needs more cutting and polishing, to bring out all of its, facets, quality, potential sparkle and beauty. Both Dave and I are commited to the support, improvements, upgrades and new options, per your request, for at least the next year or more. (PLEASE READ THE TEXT FILE 'KNOWN.BUGS', BEFORE USING THIS PROGRAM) Most likely, many other problems, bugs and anomalies, that we've failed to observe or even encountered yet, will be discovered and hopefully reported to us, by the users of this program, so that we can attempt to correct any found, in our future updates. We could have continued with development and debugging efforts, waiting to release it. But, after careful consideration, I've decided to release it AS IS, for several reasons that follow. Many GS users around the world, have considered this program to be nothing more than a fantasy or vaporware. I wanted to show all of you that it's not ! So, here it is. It's real and it's the first MOD Editor/Expressive Sequencer/Music and sound composition/conversion/multi-format program, ever released for this computer, for you to have, use and enjoy FREELY. It was developed and designed to my own needs and personal specifications, both diligently and very skillfully by Dave Swanson. I'm very satisfied with the program and what I'm able to do with it. I hope you will be just as satisfied and find it just as useful as I do. It meets all of the standard protocol of any GS/OS desktop application program, using the tools, allowing access of DA's from within the program, when no music player is active, etc., (WITH A FEW MINOR OVERSIGHTS AND EXCEPTIONS). Olivier Goguel basically reinvented and redesigned the GS sound wheels from round to square, with the first releases of Noise Tracker GS, as a (NO TOOLS) P8 system program. We've taken that astounding and amazing (NO TOOLS) P8 system program, per Oliviers request, with his assistance, premission and best wishes, developing it into a totally new form, with this major rewrite and transformation of Noise Tracker GS, as a tool based, GS/OS desktop application music program. This has been a very difficult development project, transformation and undertaking. Many have told us that it could never be done. Even Olivier Goguel, expressed his doubts that it could be developed, to operate as a tool based, GS/OS desktop music program. No other programmer has even attempted such an effort. The only resemblance this rewrite has to the previous (P8) versions, is the Scrolly Player and several of the original Apple Key commands. We've kept the graphic display as close to the original, as possible. The original graphic, was designed by Olivier Bailly-Maitre. It's been redesigned and modified by myself and Dave Swanson, for inclusion with this major rewrite and release. We realize there are many more options and improvements that can be added. Later, they will be implemented. We will be making many improvements, adding more options, supporting more music file formats and implementing more special effects, with continual upgrades to the program, as best our time and our abilities allow. Noise Tracker GS v2.0, still has some subtle problems with score editing, special effects, with the players, many sound bank anomalies, requires many refinements, additions, changes and program improvements, that are planned or pending. Rest assured, they will be included, with each future update, based on your direct user feed-back to us. We do welcome and invite anybody, that wants to volunteer there own art, music skills or programming talents and time, to help with improvements and upgrades, to make the program better. If you can improve it with a patch, etc., go for it and be sure to send me the patch and patched version, if you do anything with it. Your suggestions and request for additional options, improvements and your needs for future implementations, will determine what the program upgrades will be. Your own reports of bugs, problems and any anomalies you may encounter, will be very carefully reviewed, tested and corrected, if at all possible, with each upgrade of the program. Noise Tracker GS v2.0 is presented for you to use and enjoy FREELY, for your own personal or commercial music composition needs. It's more reliable, versatile and compatible generally, for loading and playing more Imported MOD music formats, than any previous NTGS ProDOS 8 (P8) version, now including program player audio support, with most of the MODfiles major (audio active) special effects. This release of NTGS currently supports 15 audio active special effects, with its players. It supports a total of 27 special effect input/edit active commands, with the music editor. The music editor also allows the input of around 6270 special effect parameter variations total, with the 27 special effects. It's the first 'FREE' GS Import/Export MODfile Editor, as well as a multi-format Import/Export Player, Converter - music composition and editing program. You can load, enhance, combine, modify and save MODfiles. Using the proper steps and procedures, you can convert, enhance, combine, modify and save any of the music files that NTGS loads, as a MODfile. You can also load, convert and save an Imported MODfile, SoundSmith GS/SSP or other such music file formats, with their samples/sounds, wavebanks to convert and save as either of the NTGS music module file types 1 or 2. Noise Tracker GS v2.0 has been defined, by music scholars, electronic sound/music, computer program engineers and designers as, a unique 8 bit sound and musical multi-format, multi-computer, MOD import/export Converter/Composite Music Composition and Expessive Sequencer. About the MODfile support, functions, load and save abilities NTGS v2.0, currently saves Imported MODfiles, in standard Protracker module formats, using 4 tracks in the RAM based bank only, tracks A-D, with up to 31 total samples, as a standard ($06) binary file type format. It now supports 5 octaves (Import/Export) for MODfiles, with the option for manual insert/support and conversions, up to 7 octaves, supporting multiple samples in the RAM sound bank, each up to 128k in size, in conjunction with those used in the Ensoniq Ram bank, for the current NTGS modules (type 1 and 2) and for future MODfile formats. These MODfiles can be played via any of the GS MODfile players. They can also be exported to any of the other computers, that support and play standard Protracker format MODfiles. Provided you use the proper special effects and their proper parameter values. You'll find many Imported MODfiles and their diverse formats that may not play properly, when imported into NTGS. The same thing is true for all of the GS MOD players, with their current releases. Some of the imported module files, which can be created on either; Amiga, Atari ST, MAC and IBM computers, have (so-called) inter-linked samples, with random file positions and special effects within the music score and/or module file. Some of their samples are of a rather complex nature, that depend on each other, via sound bank positions, for the proper audio special effects and their samples audio rendering, within the NTGS programs RAM-based sound bank such as, i.e.; pitchbend, special timing, with tempo, slide, loop, etc. There are rare instances, when imported module files, with their modified, altered and non-conventional special effect commands, random file format positioned (wavebank/score/sample) complexities, older, newer, diverse or unusual formats, might go completely hay-wire, play with strange and unpredictable results or simply fail to load on the current released versions of either; MODZap, soniqTracker or Shellplay. You might even encounter some MODfiles that cause these MODfile players to either; WIPE OUT, CRASH or LOCK UP. The same is true for NTGS and you'll find it occurs with NTGS, just as it does with the current released versions of the GS/OS MOD players. I've tried to make the users of NTGS aware that it's not intended as an 'Imported MODfile' music player. NTGS takes the imported module files and attempts to translate them for its own use, converting them internally for its own NTGS module file types and their save formats, as well as for the Protracker MODfile save format. About the development, history and use of NTGS, as a multi-format music program NTGS was originally designed by Olivier Goguel, as an 'Expressive Sequencer' for the development, integration, composite/composition of music scores and for use with the interchange of samples, using the formats and content of; Imported modules (Amiga MODS or MODfiles), SoundSmith GS, Noise Tracker GS music and wavebank files or NTGS Modules. Noise Tracker GS v2.0 can attempt to combine these files music scores; tracks, all positions or blocks, via the GS/OS clipboard, using a 64k buffer, with the Edit menu options; Cut, Copy, Paste and Undo functions all active, using them both together or individually, to the specific, customized needs and dictates of the programs user. Around 4700 total hours of programming and testing time, for all upgrades and their development efforts have gone into NTGS, from the first P8 release of version 0.30b by Olivier Goguel, up to and including this GS/OS desktop program transformation, major rewrite and release. Dave Swanson, devoted what spare time he had available, from 10 PM to 3 AM every week, rewriting, developing, coding, debugging and programming NTGS v2.0, during the summer. He managed to do this between the two summer jobs, which usually consumed well over 50 hours per week of his time. All of this has been done for FREE. All programming efforts were done for FREE. All upgrades for this rewrite and testing were done for FREE. All the multitude of our efforts and the expenses incurred for travel, mail, materials and telephone calls, to develop and coordinate these efforts, over the past few years were voluntary. All of the help, advice and technical assistance given, by so many of our current and past 1WSW team members, with our associates and friends, were all furnished for FREE. I want to sincerely thank them for all the help, advise and support given. I've spent most of my time during this summer and fall, around 500 hours total; coordinating the programs, development, design, beta testing, loading, playing, re-testing my entire collection of imported modules, Noise Tracker GS music and module files with NTGS v2.0, setting the many beta versions of the program to every possible combined parameter variation they had to offer, to study the varied play effects, abilities and any interpretive audio problems. I assure you, there's many problems that still have to be solved. Even the three currently released GS 'Imported MOD' Players, all play the MODfiles with different audio rendering, for their special effects, timing, etc. Each imported module has its own design with information coded into the samples, with special effects, play parameters and format variations. There's no current program, that I'm aware of for the GS, that will play them all properly, exactly as they were designed and constructed to be played on their native computers, with default parameter settings used. We have attempted to give this new major rewrite and release that ability, to allow the Imported MODfile to be converted internally, to allow proper play, timing and effect parameters, automatically and have eliminated the option of MODfile preset parameters. We feel this will be a major improvement (WHEN PERFECTED), that will make the NTGS program less confusing, more 'User Friendly' and simple, for use of editing with the MODfiles. Please keep in mind, that it's still far from perfect, by any means. This rewrite and new release of NTGS v2.0, as a GS/OS desktop music program, when considering its intended purpose, enhancements, MODfile editing and unique creative additions, with the ALL-NEW Protracker format MODfile create, edit, save options, and the fact that it's still relatively accurate and compatible with support, play and import of the previous NTGS (P8) based program music files, comes about as close to proper, correct and logical interpretive abilities, for most of the imported music and NTGS modules, as any program currently released for this computer possibly can. If you're a serious and original NTGS 'Expressive Sequencer' music composer, like Noah Mittman, the author of our NTGS v2.0 theme song is, you'll realize, that to obtain a close rendering of the original imported music module, enhance, modify it or even, create your own NTGS music module or MODfile from scratch, you may wish to use several other GS programs, to compliment your music composition efforts. There are many programs to compliment your music composition efforts and enhance your sounds/samples such as; MOD Convert2, MODZap, Modifier, SoundSmith GS/SSP, the NTGS (P8) versions, etc., in conjunction with the many GS sound editors like; the (P8) SSS Sound Editor or SoundAce GS, AUDIOZap, Digital Sessions, SoundShop, Sound Edit (USE), etc., to give you the ability to accomplish what you want, with your own customized, NTGS music composition, conversions and MODfiles. You'll need a lot of creative patients and you'll have to deal with many steps, to obtain the best composition and personal musical expressive results possible, if you decide to use these other enhancement, editing and conversion programs. But, the results will be worth the additional efforts. This computer has many unique sound and music abilities, that most users have never fully explored. Using this new release of NTGS v2.0, with these other programs, can really allow you to do some impressive and creative MODfile music compositions, for use on the GS or to export to the other computers, as Protracker MODfiles. Now, you can show the other computer users that the GS, even with its current design Ensoniq limitations of 8 bit sound, is a powerful music and sound computer, by giving them a taste of your own original 'NATIVE GS MODFILE' creations, enhancements, modifications and/or remix compositions. Those other computers do have the abilities to create, play and save MODfiles, with more than the 4 tracks, we are currently limited to. We're working on the programs development and support for importing, creating, editing and saving other MODfiles and their formats, with more than 4 tracks. We hope to have those MODfile supports implemented, in future updates for NTGS. So, be patient, they are coming. From us and most likely, from several others also, SOON ! Learning to; Design, Enhance or Modify a Protracker MODfile For the best results first, you should listen to the imported music module file, via your favorite GS MOD Player, study the score, tracks, special effects, with the MODS pattern/block play design and listen to the manner it plays the samples, with any special effects. Then you can import a MOD into NTGS to work with it, with a much better understanding of how it should actually sound, how its sequence and pattern/block play-layout is arranged, what the samples sound like, how to add or modify special effects, replace samples or modify and enhance them via any of the GS's sound editors, etc. Creating or editing a MODfile, is a totally new adventure in music composition, for nearly every GS user. You'll need to train yourself, thru trial and error, to gain a good understanding of how to do it. It's going to be like learning to drive a car, for the first time for most of you. If you're careful and patient with your efforts, studying the way a MODfile plays with the GS MOD Players, then loading them into NTGS v2.0 to learn what to do, using diligence and careful trial and error practice with the design, enhancement, edits, modification, integration and conversions, remember what went wrong and try to avoid such problems with your next efforts, you'll learn something new, each time you do. Please read the MODCOM.Notes text file for a more detailed review of MODfiles, their special effects commands and how to use them with this program. Eventually, you'll get the hang of how to design your own MODfiles, exactly the way you want them to be. If you're careless and don't take the time to learn, from any mistakes you might make, by repeated trial and error practice, you might just CRASH. You might think that using just 4 tracks, would limit your audio creative options and not give you much of a spacial sound scape to work with. Well, think again and please be advised, you can do a great deal with only 4 tracks. You can create some very impressive 3D music and audio spacial sound scapes, using only 4 tracks. There's an extensive amount of 4 track MODfiles, you can obtain from many on-line services, BBS's and the Internet, which you can listen to, view and study, to learn how they present their 3D sound scapes and audio designs. Remember, MODfiles are for all computers. Don't just search for them in GS areas. They are plentiful in other computer areas also. Look in the MAC, IBM, Amiga and Atari ST areas. You'll find a multitude of them there. 3D enhancement devices for the GS Even if you can't figure out how to design your own 3D stereo sound scapes, (and NTGS v2.0, gives you all the options and effects you'll need, to allow you to design great 3D music and audio spacial sound scapes) you can have 'Vivid 3D', with your GS stereo cards output signal or even your mono output jack. A new (MONO and Stereo 3D emulation) device, called 'VIVID 3D' for sale from NuReality, works great on the GS to give you both; 3D simulated stereo effects, from the standard GS's MONO sound output jack or VIVID and HIGHLY dimensionalized 3D stereo spacial sound scapes, from your stereo cards output jack, that expands your normal stereo output to new 3D horizons. The 'VIVID 3D' device is available in four models, ranging from $79.95 to $149.95. All Models are compatible with the GS. You can make your inquire or order, by calling NuReality at their toll-free number: 1-800-501-8086. I just got a VIVID 3D device from NuReality and it does everything claimed above. If their $79.95 to $149.95 prices are a little too much for you, I've also located an exceptional liquidation lot of 3D/Full Surround Sound stereo enhancement system devices for only $69.00. Several hundred units of the amazing Hughes Audio Research (Model AK-500) Sound Retrieval System, are available by mail order. I've had my AK-500 for almost 2 years now. I had to pay $219.00 for mine, back when I bought it. I used it with my GS, stereo card and stereo system, with astounding 3D Surround Sound audio presentation. Using the 3D pan controllers, It also has the unique quality, of allowing you to record whatever you process thru it, into any digital or analog audio tape or data stereo recording system, permanantly printed as a true 3D mix. At $69.00, plus S & H cost, it's an incredible buy ! They are available from Sound CITY, Kinnelon, N.J. Give them a call to order, at their toll-free order number: 1-800-542-7283 or FAX 1-201-838-2516. About the program 'Special Effects' abilities This release of NTGS v2.0, allows the manual input (via the music editor) of around 6270 total editing parameters, using up to 27 special effect commands, with full stereo support of the normal human hearing range (20Hz to 20KHz), and note support of up to 7 octaves, by using manual octave inserts of 1 thru 7, in the Note box. It also allows you to use some very advanced special features such as; binaural, bineaural sound coding and score designs, random digital audio transmutations of samples in the sound banks, with both sample layering, overlayÐdubbing and looping, (using several of the GS sound editors) which can generate and allow you to save some very unique sound/sample files. And it allows multiple sample heterodyning effects. You can even save your newly created DATª samples, for use with other scores that you design or import/export, via any GS music composition or MIDI program. These are unique features, available only with NTGS v2.0 and can generate some strange, astounding and very original samples, designs and special audio effects. But, they can also tax the program and the GS' CPU to their limits. If used to extremes, they can even lock the program up, dead in its tracks, during some samples keyboard note audits and play efforts, or simply cause a system crash, that will require a reboot of your GS. Using all of these unique options, with all of the special effect commands, in all possible combinations and to their maximum extremes, I've designed many strange, MAXED-OUT and EXOTIC experimental MODfiles, that I saved, loaded and attempted to play, with all three of the currently released GS MOD Players. I've observed the CPU often using from 15% up to 87% of its abilities, as noted and displayed via the current release of DOCVu v2.0. Most of the normal (unmodified) Imported MODfiles, only showed CPU use, in the ranges of from 1% up to about 54%, when played and viewed via the CDA, DOCVu v2.0. Some of these experimental MODfiles, which I designed with NTGS v2.0 with their extreme upper limits of so many special effects, for testing the special effects and support limits, on the GS MOD Players (current released versions), created havoc on all of them. Some of them even caused the GS MOD Players to either; WIPE-OUT, LOCK-UP, CRASH or go totally CRAZY ! You've been warned. So, don't go to extremes with MAXIMUM PARAMETER VALUES and to many of these unique NTGS abilities, with special effects and sound transmutations, enhancements or modifications, with the Protracker MODfiles you've worked with and saved with NTGS v2.0. Other wise, you'll have to deal with the same problems that I encountered and have noted above. This happened with less occurrence, using a GS (ROM 03 or ROM 01), with TRANSWARP or ZIPCHIP accelerator cards. But, it still occurred on occasions. Using the GS FPE (Floating Point Engine) card, about half of the CPU % use/effort, is transfered to the FPE. They sounded a lot better, played more smoothly and the GS MOD Players all had less problems playing them accurately, without the WIPE-OUT, LOCK-UP or RANDOM CRASH problems. If you're lucky enough to have a GS FPE card, you should certainly keep it and use it. There were only around 400 of them ever produced and sold. I was really blessed, lucked out and got mine recently, at a flea market for $10. I've exported these same NTGS experimental (MAXIMUM-SPECIAL EFFECTS) designed MODfiles to the other computers, that support and play the Protracker (4-track) Music Module format. They all seemed to be able to play them correctly, without any problems. I'm releasing three (3.5 - 800k) data disks, full of these NTGS experimental 'MAXIMUM SPECIAL EFFECTS' and enhanced MODfiles, as Shrink-it SHK files, titled; NTGS2.EM1.SHK, NTGS2.EM2.SHK and NTGS2.EM3.SHK. Download them and use them, if you dare. But, use them with caution and care. If you don't, you'll hang up the GS MOD Players, lock up, wipe out or crash, just like I did with them, on so many occasions. I'll also be releasing a great many single GS Modfiles, created, remixed, edited and enhanced with the NTGS v2.0 program, as FREEWARE to all of the major on-line services, the NET and several select popular BBS' around the world. Look for them soon. They can give you a lot a music material to work with, listen to and enjoy. If you can't locate them, just send me some blank disks with a return postage and self-addressed mailer or envelope. I'll be glad to furnish you with all of them, for the asking and FREE of any additional expenses. I'm sure most authors of the GS MOD players, music converters, sound editors and music composition programs would agree: 'YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE GS USERS, ALL THE TIME. YOU CAN PLEASE ALL OF THE GS USERS SOME OF THE TIME. BUT, YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE ALL OF THE GS USERS ALL OF THE TIME'. We've collectively done our very best, to give all GS music users and NTGS music composers, some all new, unique and expanded enhancements. To allow you to have a better creative ability in your music compositions. With enhancements, composites, edits, conversions and modifications, to save as NTGS Music Modules (types 1 or 2) or MODfiles, you should have a lot of new abilities to work with and enjoy. You'll have many more new abilities now, with your own original creations, from scratch or via imports of NTGS Music files and their wavebank files, NTGS Music Modules or MODfiles. Including, the use of SoundSmith GS, SSP or other similar and modified file formats, with their samples or wavebanks. You should carefully and thoroughly read the information, contained in the NTGS 'Program.Manual' text file, concerning the new inclusions for this release of Noise Tracker GS v2.0. If you take the time to read this information, you should gain a much better understanding of what to expect and how to use NTGS v2.0, to its fullest current abilities. Please keep in mind, when using this program, NTGS isn't just an Import MODfile player/editor. It was designed and developed for you, as a 'FREE' and user friendly EXPRESSIVE SEQUENCER, to allow you to import, use, edit and save MODfiles, NTGS music and modules (type 1 and 2), as well as import SoundSmith GS and compatible file format songs, for your own personal and customized music composition needs, with many all new, versatile options and with relative simplicity. NTGS v2.0 will allow you to convert and save any of them in any of the programs file save formats. It should certainly open up a new door of music creativity and new, diverse, compositions for the GS. This new NTGS program, gives you many totally new and expanded abilities, never before available. It also currently lacks, many of the abilities that the (P8) versions of NTGS have. You should use them both in creative conjunction with each other, too have the best of both, as your own individual composition needs dictate. We plan to eventually implement all of the features from the (P8) versions of NTGS. But, for now you should keep your favorite (P8) version of NTGS handy to use, for whatever you might wish to do with it, that this new GS/OS major rewrite and release of NTGS can't currently do. NTGS, (all versions) are intended for your music creative needs as EXPRESSIVE SEQUENCER'S and as an integrated, import, composite/composition and conversion music and sound program. It's unique and there's no other program quite like it currently, for the GS. So please use and enjoy it, to its fullest potentials ! Using its new enhanced and powerful Edit menu functions; Cut, Copy, Paste and Undo with the GS/OS clipboard, including the new enhanced additions of volume Fade-in, Fade-out options, combined with the unique search/find/replace options, gives you a vast amount of creative potentials. You'll have the ability to integrate, combine, alter, add, replace, enhance, modify, duplicate or delete, both samples, tracks and blocks of the music scores, with individual or multiple position duplications. All this, allows you total music score editing control and total replacement abilities, from music file format imports of ; SoundSmith GS, SuperSoundPRO or their modified file formats, etc., Noise Tracker GS music files with their wavebanks or NTGS music modules (type 1 and 2) and virtually all Imported (4-track) MODfile music files. Its use of sample, sound swaps from or to RAM bank/Ensoniq RAM, with the options to rename, delete, add or replace any or all of them within the program, along with its random DAT sound ability, to create new and unusual samples, is very unique. With the ability to; add, delete and/or replacing samples as either; RAW binary samples, ASIF sounds and other types of IFF sounds, in the RAM sound bank and/or replacing ASIF or IFF sounds/samples in the Ensoniq-based RAM bank, gives the program real audio versatility module (AVM) power. These wide range, customized sound bank designs and music composition options, make this new release of NTGS v2.0 the most unique, powerful, creative and versatile MOD music program ever released for the GS. And, best of all its FREE ! NTGS v2.0 isn't currently, the best MOD player by far. It was never intended or designed for the exclusive use as just an 'Imported MOD player'. You'll find some problems, dealing with your MODfile creations, by not currently being able to hear the full audio rendering of the special effects, that you can add, modify, enhance, and save, via its music editor. Hopefully, with the upgrades of NTGS v2.0, it will soon be able to play MODfiles, with all of their special effects, audio active and presented to near perfection. The most current released versions of; Shellplay, soniqTracker or MODZap are recommend for those who wish to simply play and listen to imported MOD music files with high quality audio results, on their GS. They are also essential, to allow you to be able to hear everything that you did, to any MODfiles you made with this release. Auditing MODfiles, after making your NTGS editing, Special Effects and enhancements MODZap, using its classic player, will give you the best visual ability, to study the MODfile, for its pattern lay-out, play sequence and special effects activity, by using the MODZapÐClassic player option. But, I don't personally consider it's most current release, to be the best for accurate all-around audio quality or audio rendering, with every special effect with every MODfile. The most current release of Shellplay, accessed via the Instant Access program v2.3 and up, is the best and most 'USER FRIENDLY', GS/OS MOD Player available. It's certainly gives the best complete audio rendering, with both sound quality and special effects. When accessed from the Instant Access program, it's the most simplistic and user friendly, for playing your Imported MODfile and it also uses the least amount of memory. If you know how to properly use Shellplay, a GS/OS shell EXE. file, that is link executable via Instant Access or EXE. launchable from Command COM, GNO, ORCA Shell, etc., you'll get the most accurate selectable stereo or mono audio rendering, with all special audio effects possible, when you play an Imported Module file. The Shellplay MOD Player, will give you a total and accurate audio prospective of the MODfile special effects, that you add, enhance or modify with the NTGS v2.0 program. Try it out for yourself. Load a MODfile into the NTGS v2.0 program, edit it, enhance it, modify or add some special effects, that you can't currently hear, within the NTGS v2.0 players, then save it and play it with Shellplay, via the Instant Access v2.3 program, to hear everything you did to it, with an accurate audio prospective. Try the other two GS MOD Players; soniqTracker or MODZap, for comparisons and judge for yourself. I've used many other music programs, MOD editors and players on Amiga's, Atari ST's, MAC's and IBM's. Many of them are a lot more fancy, with a lot more options. But, even with its 8 bit sound limitations, I really like what the NTGS program and the GS computer can deliver to your listening senses better, over all, than any of them. You now have a FREE 'User Friendly' GS MOD editor, in the ruff and at its first stages of continual development, released for you to create and save Protracker 4-track MODfiles. Explore and enjoy your new abilities with NTGS v2.0. Create some of your own unique, enhanced, modified, remixed, or original GS MODfiles, save them and export them to all the other computers. Prove to them that the GS, is indeed an amazing music machine ! I'm what you might call a MODfile fanatic and I'm a commited GSer for LIFE. I'm going to continue coordinating the development and upgrade of Noise Tracker GS, until it obtains its maximum capabilities and pushes this computer and its Ensoniq DOC to the maximum musical and audio limits. Read on and be advised, there's other fantastic programs for the GS, rumored to be in the works ! RUMORS AND SPECULATIONS If you listen to rumors, like I do, rumor has it or so I've been told, that others here in the USA and (in Japan ?) have also developed MODfile editors, based on the original Noise Tracker, some with 3200 graphic display, for the GS. I've even been informed that somebody (in Canada ? Hubert Aalbers, perhaps ???) is working on a text based word processor styled MODfile editor for the GS. But, I've yet to actually see any of them. Tim Meekins recently released his (copyrighted) soniqTracker v0.63 source codes, and with his help, gave us the ability to add the MODfile special effects you'll hear in NTGS v2.0. Our special thanks and gratitude go to Tim, for making them available for us to use. He's really a wonderful person ! I'm sorry he never had the time to develop and update soniqTracker to its full potentials. Hopefully others will take up with it, where he left off, to put the best it has to offer into their own new programs. The soniqTracker v0.63 source codes should prove to be a release, that will give this computer and its music programmers some good material and routines to study and use with their own abilities, to present many new and improved efforts with their own new programs. One of our current GS MOD Players (so I've been told), is also nearing a new updated release and may even have MODfile editing support, hopefully with other MODfile format supports, dazzle players and enhanced options (???). Being a MODfile fanatic, I eagerly look forward to all of their releases. New NTGS Improvements Some of the non-visible improvements to Noise Tracker GS v2.0 include, the removal of all past sound filtering, the addition of new designs for internal play and sound quality enhancements, special effects audio active support for the program players, the MODfiles and the new type 2, NTGS music module format, an improved sample, instrument, sound swapper, using much faster, smoother and cleaner swaps, with greater sound clearity and quality resolution, using the unique, new NTGS DAX-Soundª designs, from our 'Master Noise Tracker GS Merlin 16 + Programmer and Sound WizardÐin Training': Dave Swanson. His efforts, rewrite and updates for the internal program players, now allow all the RAM-based samples and tracks to sound virtually identical in audio quality, to the Ensoniq-based ones. This makes all your NTGS music sound much better, cleaner and clearer, with higher sound resolution, than ever before possible. Concerning the use of a stereo card for your GS To allow you to listen to the music that NTGS plays, with the best possible sound resolution in stereo, I advise the use of the SoundMeister stereo card. It's the only stereo and digitizing card currently made and supported for the GS. The music is more impressive and certainly much cleaner and clear, than I've ever experienced sound with any GS stereo card before and I've used them all. In a recent telephone conversation with Tony Diaz, he informed me, that you can now order the SoundMeister Stereo Card and the DigitalSession software for the special and current introduction price of $59.00 plus S & H cost from: Alltech Electronics Co. 2618 Temple Heights Oceanside, CA 92056 USA Tel. (619) 724-2404 NTGS Sound/Sample/Instrument Save and Load Options, with other GS programs You can save sounds/samples/instruments as ASIF files or RAW binary files, from either RAM-bank. You can load them into either (respectively compatible) RAM-bank of any version of Noise Tracker GS. You can also load and use the ASIF sound files saved with NTGS v2.0, or other IFF sound files, with the SoundSmith GS or SSP programs. You can use the SSS Sound Editor v1.0 (Rev. 3) program (SE.SYSTEM), included on-line separately for downloads, with this release, in any version of Noise Tracker GS or any other GS music program that uses the music files it can edit, modify, convert and save to; additionally edit, alter, enhance, modify, convert and save them for use with NTGS, as either RAW binary, ASIF and IFF sound files. When you load an imported music module file and have a sample/sound/instrument that loops in either; RAM based or Ensoniq RAM banks, it (most likely) won't retain the loop effect when saved, unless you first moved it into the Ensoniq RAM bank, then saved it as an ASIF file. That's the only possible method to save a sample that loops, smart-loops or auto- retrig's, from within the NTGS program, (all versions). Even that option seldom results, with saving a sample with a loop and/or position repeat effect. NTGS, simply won't save the loop effects and coding information in a sample yet, when you save it as a RAW binary file, from either RAM bank. You can use the SSS Sound Editor 1.0 - (Rev. 3.0) program to either; simulate, design, recreate or emulate loop effects of a sample/sound/instrument, then save it as an IFF SoundSmith sound file, for use again in your composition efforts with NTGS. You can only save a total repeatÐloop effect in a sound and only as a SoundSmith sound, sample or IFF type instrument file, using the SSS Sound Editor (P8) program. You can load and use these sound files in this new NTGS release or any past (P8) version of Noise Tracker GS. ASIF or IFF sound files can be loaded and used within the Ensoniq RAM sound bank or the RAM based sound bank of NTGS (limited only by the GS RAM memory, you have available or preset, (via the NTGS v2.0 Option- parameter file), as well as; SoundSmith GS or SuperSoundPRO, with a total (Ensoniq RAM sound bank) combined size of 64k maximum, for all samples. You can also save the sound/sample files with the SSS Sound Editor, as RAW binary sound files for use in the RAM-based sample/sound bank with this GS/OS release Noise Tracker GS or any (P8) versions, as well as, any other GS music program that accepts RAW binary sound files. RAW binary sound files can't be looped and then saved with the loop coding, via the SSS Sound Editor program. ASIF or IFF SoundSmith sound files can be. Only ASIF or other IFF type files can be used in the Ensoniq RAM sound bank. You can use both; ASIF/IFF or RAW files in the RAM-based sound bank of NTGS. SSS Sound Editor 1.0 - SE.SYSTEM (Rev.3.0), a Freeware - Copyright program from (SSS) Second Sight Software, with updated sound filtering enhancements, is a powerful, high quality, stereo sound editor, 'The Ultimate' and only P8 (ProDOS 8) stereo or mono sound editor, for the GS. Many other exceptional shareware, freeware and commercial sound editors and/or digitizers, that are GS/OS application programs, are compatible with the SSS Sound Editor saved files such as; DigitalSession, AUDIOZap, Sound Shop, SoundAce GS, Sound Edit (USE) and many others. They all have unique, special effects and abilities to enhance your sounds even more and save them, to load and use with Noise Tracker GS, as both Ensoniq Ram-based sounds (i.e., SoundSmith/IFF/ASIF) or RAM-based sounds (i.e., RAW binary). You might like to try out our most current GS/OS release of SoundAce GS v2.2, an older Sound Editor and Sound Digitizer, given to us, with all rights transferred for updates and another Freeware - Copyright from 1WSW and OSRL, also included separately with this release and available for download via, most all the major on-line services, Internet servers and BBS's. It has its limitations and can't load sounds with a resource fork or sound files, larger than 64k. But, it also has some very unique special effects available, great upgrade potentials and its also FREE. Using the SSS Sound Editor, you can also load original Amiga native imported files of samples, sounds, instruments, synthsounds or wavefiles and convert them to GS form, as well as Mac or just the opposite, provided they don't have any resource forks. Remember, it's a (P8) program and can't deal with resource forks. You can also load and work with imported MAC or Amiga sound files, with a great deal more options and enhancement abilities, using AUDIOZap or the Universal Sound Editor (USE). If you want to work with editing or enhancing an imported sound with a rFork, a GS rSound file rWavebank file, you should use either; AUDIOZap, DigitalSession, RSounder or the Sound Edit (USE) programs. If you plan to use them in Noise Tracker GS, you must save them as either; RAW binary or ASIF sound files. Noise Tracker GS v2.0, does not currently load or support the use of any sound or wavebank with a resource fork, correctly. About Noise Tracker GS Music Load and Save formats The NTGS (music and wavebank file sets), are supported for load and convert only. You can no longer save NTGS music compositions as music and wavebank file sets with Noise Tracker GS v2.0. With careful multiple step sample and music score design integration (load and save) of; SoundSmith GS, SuperSoundPRO or their modified file formats, Imported MUSIC MODULES or other Noise Tracker GS (music and wave file sets and/or NTGS music modules), it's possible to exchange or inter-mix all of the samples and/or score tracks, blocks or any individual and/or multiple position assignments. You can then combine all or any portion of the music scores together, and save them in either the Protracker MODfile format (limited to 4 RAM-based sound bank tracks of A-D) or the NTGS music module file formats; type 1 and type 2, using both RAM-based sound bank and Ensoniq RAM bank samples and tracks, in combination, according to the users specifications and designs, up to a maximum of 15 tracks. About NTGS Music Modules The Noise Tracker GS - type 1, is a single file format, containing the samples/sound wavebank and music score. It's compact in size and efficient for both; the NTGS program (all versions from 1.0 and up) to load and play or for any other current NTGS music module player programs to load, interpret and play. It's the same as any previous NTGS Module file, having no new special effects, when saved from the NTGS v2.0 program. The Noise Tracker GS - type 2, is also the same single file format, containing both; the samples/sound wavebank and music score. The new type 2 NTGS music module format is still under development, with many improvements and more changes still pending. The new (type 2) NTGS music module file format, when selected and saved, retains any special effects imported or added to the music score, allows audio presentation of the currently supported NTGS v2.0 special effects, when loaded and played in the NTGS v2.0 program. It also has an option, to assign your own specific title in the file header, the same as a Protracker MODfile has. It is not compatible, nor will it load, with any other version of NTGS. Currently, the new NTGS (type 2) music module file format, can only be loaded and played with the NTGS v2.0 program. When it's fully developed, we will be making the final NTGS (type 2) file format structure available to all programmers, that wish to support it for playing, with its many audio special effects, in their programs. Two other programs are currently under development or pending, that will support and play the (type 2) NTGS music module, with its special audio effects. PLEASE NOTE AND NOTE IT CAREFULLY: When you are creating or converting any music to NTGS music modules (type 2), it is essential that you always place a tempo and timing increment special effects command before and after any other special effects command, in the Ensoniq RAM Based tracks 1-15. This is the only way, that you can be sure to keep the tempo and timing increment correct, according to the play speed you want to have, with your music score. This is only required with the new NTGS (type 2) module format. If you don't do this you may discover that the program will mistakenly assume that one of the other special effects and their parameter values ( in HEX), that you entered, in the Ensoniq tracks is either a tempo and/or timing increment command. Failure to enter the proper tempo (TPO) and/or timing increment (TIM) commands both before and after other special effects that the program may mistakenly assume to be the same commands as (TPO) and/or (TIM), which have greater prameter values than the master tempo (specified in the Music Parameter) will result in a crazy runaway play speed. We have been developing this new NTGS (type2) format for a long time and may very well combine both the TPO and TIM special effects commands into one single command, with future updates of the program. All special effects are currently active within the development version of the NTGS (type2) format. It is still under development and can present some amazing sound effects, using all of the special effects that an Imported MOD has. If you follow the above warnings and instructions, entering your special effects commands, with the above warnings in mind, you should have no conflicts with the programs ability to play all of the special effects correctly, within the Ensoniq tracks (1-15). If you are using the RAM Based sound bank, with any samples, this problem does not occur with the RAM Based tracks (A-G). It only occurs with the Ensoniq tracks. You can use both RAM Based tracks and Ensoniq RAM based tracks together or single. But, with respect to either such RAM bank tracks used, you must keep in mind that you have tto take the precautions to enter the TPO and/or TIM commands in your ensoniq tracks, both before and after the special effects that might be mistaken as new TPO and or TIM commands and parameter values. We plan to expand the active audio support for all the special effects, within the next few NTGS upgrades, for (type 2) NTGS music modules, eventually allowing it to present the same audio abilities within the NTGS program when playing, that are currently available with MODfiles via the GS MOD Players. With the ability to use up to 15 tracks, this should give some astounding audio abilities with future NTGS type 2 music module compositions. Most likely trial and error will be your best teacher with respect to creating the new NTGS (type2) modules. Remember, practice make perfect. At least with respect to your abilities to use the program with your compositions in this new experimental and development format. We plan to have all of these conflicts with the special effects in the Ensoniq tracks corrected, with the official release of a future update of NTGS v2.0x, with the official and fully developed release of the NTGS type 2 Module format. But, for the present, you'll have to deal with it AS IS and learn the correct methods to use to get around the problems you may well encounter with using this NTGS type 2 module format, in its current development stage. There's a multitude of new options, special sound and audio effect enhancements, included in this new NTGS v2.0 major rewrite and release. All of the special sound effects available for playing and editing Imported MODS are supported for input, via the music editor and are active, when saved. But, not all of the special effects for the Imported MODS are currently audio active, within the NTGS v2.0 Player or the Scrolly Player. All MODfile special effects are supported and active, with the NTGS music editor. When you input or alter any of them, they can be heard when saved as a MODfile and played, via any of the GS MOD Players, as accurately as possible, provided that you don't over do it or take these special effects enhancements to the MAX ! All special effects are active, when you save the NTGS music Module format (type 2). Keep in mind, that only some of the major special effects listed below, are currently audio active within the program, when loaded and played via either the NTGS v2.0 Player or the NTGS v2.0 Scrolly Player. Music Editor - Special Effect Commands For manual insert, in the NTGS v2.0 music editors Effect Box and Parameter Box, use; (MSC for all E-Commands), (PUP for Pitchbend Up), (PDN for Pitchbend Down), (TRM for Tremolo), (VIB for Vibrato), (VOL for Volume), (TPO for Tempo), (OFF for sample offsets) and finally the most confusing of them all (TIM for tempo increment value^) ^also known as timing counter or as beats per minute - BPM. This should not be confused with the BPM as used in MIDI and with synthLAB. It's not the same ! All of the above mentioned 3 letter special effects, should be manually inserted into the Effects box (within the music editor). They should be followed by their proper and respective parameter values, in increment/decrement HEX values only, ranging from either; 0 thru F or 00 thru FF. Three additional special effects commands are supported and must be inserted manually only within the Note box of the music editor. They are as follow; (STP for stop music), NXT for next position) and (JMP for jump to position). They should also be followed by their parameter values, in the music editors Parameters box (if and as applicable), in increment/decrement HEX values only, ranging from 00 thru FF. * Please carefully take note, that the NXT command, for next position uses only dec. parameter values. Read the 'MODCOM.Notes' text file for a complete review, comparative listing and notations, concerning the correct use and manual input of all audio special effects, with their parameter limits. Read the NTGS v2.0 Program Manual, for a complete review of all program functions and options. Please make certain, that you read the KNOWN.BUGS text file also, before using the program ! I have a personal desire, a commitment to the original author of Noise Tracker GS, Olivier Goguel and to the NTGS users, to concentrate on continued improvements, with consideration for all of your requested implementations and program needs with each update. If you find any bugs, problems or anomalies that you'd like corrected, with this new, major rewrite and release of NTGS v2.0, have any suggestions for improvements, optional additions, special effects, file type supports or functional NTGS program implementations for any future Noise Tracker GS upgrades and releases, please let me know promptly. We need to know what the NTGS users want, so we can take care of their future needs. Your comments and suggestions for improvements in future releases of NTGS are very important, welcomed and encouraged. If you have anything you'd like added or a problem with any of the functions with this release, please let me know exactly what they are in detail. As I mentioned before, Noise Tracker GS v2.0, is far from being perfect. There are still lots of things that need to be done, to make it better. Hopefully, with your feed-back, comments and suggestions, we can make the future upgrades, as close to perfect, as humanly possible. We hope you'll be polite and caring enough, to direct any problems you find with this release to us personally, via either voice phone, e-mail or snail mail. * PLEASE NOTE: If you want to have the two data disks filled with NTGS v2.0 composed and/or modified, enhanced and edited; MODfiles, NTGS (type 2) modules, to use with this program, you can find both available as Shrinkit files with the titles; NTGS.2.0DD1.SHK and NTGS.2.0DD2.SHK. If you don't find them available with the programs release, in the same location and on-line site, or for some reason can't download them. I'll be happy to send them to you via surface first class mail. Send me two blank 3.5 800k disk, with a stamped return/self-addressed mailer. Posting your NTGS program problems and complaints, nit-picking, ragging and flaming on the NET and/or the major on-line services, is not the method to use. If you want us to hear what you have to say, PLEASE contact me directly. Sure, we'll hear about it sooner or later, if you post something on the NET or other on-line services. But, why not just tell us directly? It's the fastest way to inform us of any problems you might encounter, with the NTGS program. Let us know about any complaints, bugs, upgrade suggestions and your request for any future implimentations that you want to see added. We look forward to hearing from anybody that cares to e-mail, write or call. We really do need your direct user feed-back, comments and suggestions, to make certain, the program will meet your future needs.
