The IIgs's may all be toast; but, this seems unlikely. Getting a "bong" is a sign that quite a bit of stuff is working. A IIgs normally tries to boot a disk when it is powered ON. If it can't find one, it shows a 'sliding apple' display and just sits there. What happens if (after the bongs are done) you press Control-Reset (i.e. hold down Control and press and release Reset, then release Control)? You should get the standard Applesoft "]" prompt.
