I used to have one of these before one died on me. They are great! Don't use the driver you found at ftps. Instead, use the one that came with System 6.0.1. There should be an installer option for it. Next, make sure the StyleWriter driver is selected in the "DC Printer" control panel and that the Port is "Printer Port" with the default settings. StyleWriter has no internal fonts. It is a QuickDraw only printer and thus only works under GS/OS. The print is very sharp and overall more appealing than from a DeskJet. That's why when my StyleWriter died, I replaced it with a Canon BubbleJet unit, which has the same print method. A few days ago, I found out the main reason why the Canon engine in the StyleWriter prints so cleanly. It is the INK! Yes! I put regular cheapo DeskJet ink in a Canon cartridge and it printed like a DeskJet (pretty bad). By the way, it does not work in the reverse. Canon ink clogs DeskJet cartridges. It seems the bubblejet print process lets it use a better ink.
