With the original Apple ][, Integer BASIC was in the motherboard ROM. To get Applesoft, you had to load it from disk or tape, or by having an Applesoft ROM card installed in the machine. The tape version works in a machine with less than 48KB of motherboard RAM (not sure how flexible it was - never used it myself), while the disk version requires a language card in slot 0. (The ][+ always has 48KB of motherboard RAM.) Given an Applesoft ROM card, you could swap the ROMs between the motherboard and the card, effectively giving you a ][+. -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz Snail mail: P.O.
