The IIGS serial ports have a maximum serial speed of 56k (they can do 230k, but only for AppleTalk) and can EASILY support typical 14.4, 28.8, 36k or 56k modems. Just connect one with a "Macintosh to modem" serial cable. The IIGS uses Mac modem cables. For software, try http://www.intrec.com/ Intrec for a terminal program that supports VT100 and Zmodem. There is also Spectrum from Seven Hills, version 2.2 of which supports TCP/IP with 32 sockets. Telnet and a web browser of sorts is currently available. Email is close to release (you can email through the web browser now, send only). FTP is in the works.
