_______________________________________________________________________________ SynthLab(tm) Wave Creator/Editor Copyright 1991 Parik Rao, All Rights Reserved Version 1.0 March 9th, 1991 _______________________________________________________________________________ This wee little program allows you to make your own wavebank (.WAV) files for SynthLab. Wavebanks are basically the core of instruments. SynthLab comes packaged with half a dozen or so wavebanks (SYNTH.WAV,DEMO.WAV, ORCH.WAV,etc,etc). All in all, around 60 instruments are available for your musical pleasures. Whereas 60 is a nice enough number, GS users want more of course. Enter, SynthCreate. _______________________________________________________________________________ Requirements: o Apple IIgs o 1 meg RAM minimum o System 5.02 or higher o SynthLab v1.b3 (available on America Online or from APDA). _______________________________________________________________________________ File Formats Supported: Raw Digitized Sounds - filetype $04 ACE Compressed files - filetype $CD (created by ACER) AIFF files - filetype $D8,auxtype $0000 ASIF files - filetype $D8,auxtype $0002 (used by Soundsmith) Wavebank file - filetype $D8,auxtype $0004 (used by SynthLab) HyperStudio sounds - filetype $D8,auxtype $8001 (used by SoundShop) _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the way SynthLab handles waveforms, and the lack of a waveform sort routine in SynthCreate, you must load your smaller sounds first, and then the larger ones. Otherwise the larger waveforms will consume more space than normal and you won't have any DOC ram free! Also, SynthCreate makes a temporary .BNK (usually MY.BNK) file when you save a wavebank. This temporary .BNK file should contain a instrument for each of the digitized sounds you have loaded. However, its very rudimentary (at best!) and you should really consider fine-tuning the instruments. Read the TUTORIAL file for more information. _______________________________________________________________________________ If you ever find any bugs, have any suggestions/snide remarks, or wonder how to pronounce my mail, feel free to email me at the following addresses: America Online: AFA Parik GEnie: P.RAO Usenet/Internet: 6600prao@ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu _______________________________________________________________________________
