This is the instruction file for switching between the 5.25 Parameter Files on the new version, 9, of Copy II Plus. I am in no way connected with Central Point Software and my little BASIC routine has not been reviewed by them nor will I bother to submit it to them. CPS is welcome to download the file and offer its opinion. ParmSwitch is offered gratis, and is hereby public domain property. If you wish to distribute it or give it away I only ask that you include this file Read.Me with the BASIC routine STARTUP. If you feel so moved to offer me tens of thousands of dollars for my work please feel free to send it; I will not be offended. CPS sent, with the 9.0 package, an addendum entitled 5.25" Parm List, and it draws one's attention to two sets of Parameter files for 5.25 bit copying. There were too many parameters to fit into one file and to access all of the parameters CPS offers explicit directions on how to rename the files so that C2P can use them. What I have done is written their instructions into a BASIC routine so that you can access both sets of files automatically. (N.B.: the filenames on the addendum are slightly different from the filenames on the disk.) ParmSwitch takes advantage of the new Applications feature that allows you to select the next program to run upon quitting C2P; when you quit that 'next' program you are returned to C2P. Because Applications will only run SYS files I wrote ParmSwitch so that you will launch Basic.System which run Startup in turn. There are several things you must do before utilizing ParmSwitch. 1. Put a copy of Basic.System into the folder with C2P and its parameter files. 2. Make certain there is not already a file named Startup in the C2P folder. If there is I don't know what to tell you. 3. Copy my file Startup to the C2P folder. 4. Select Edit Applications from the main menu. 5. Select New. 6. Choose an appropriate name for the Applications menu. 7. Choose an appropriate command letter for the Applications menu. 8. Set application prefix to your C2P folder, eg, /Volume/C2P. 9. Set application pathname to Basic.System. 10. Review your settings. 11. Save your application. 12. Exit the Edit menu. Now when you select Applications ParmSwitch will show up on the menu. When you select it Basic.System will be launched, Startup will run, exchange the parameter filenames and then quit back to C2P. What you cannot do is run Basic.System from the same folder that contains the ParmSwitch Startup file. If you want to run Basic.System then it must be in a different folder. You're done.
